How to Install and Adjust Carrying Roller?

When commissioning a new conveyor, the first consideration is to set the conveyor belt to within the middle of the head and tail carrying rollers. All carrying rollers are mounted at right angles to the centre line of the conveyor, but fine adjustment of the buffer carrying rollers when the conveyor belt enters a round trip run will be beneficial for commissioning. If there is a buffer roller at the end of the machine, fine adjustment of it will help guide the conveyor belt to be in the middle of the tail carrying rollers, and if the tail carrying rollers do have to be slightly off centre line, the conveyor belt will move towards the side of the roller it first touches. On a long conveyor, one person must guard each of the head and tail carrying rollers during the first run of the belt.
If gravity tensioning is used, ensure that the sliding device is in the correct position and that the frame is in proper condition. If the belt deviates from the tensioning carrying rollers, the belt will wedge between the carrying rollers and the support, resulting in damage to the belt.
The next consideration is the return surface, if the belt runs out of alignment on the return surface this will cause damage to the edges.
1. Installation of the carrying roller
The carrying rollers must also be perpendicular to the centre line of the conveyor. If the belt does not run together well, the carrying rollers can be fine-tuned. If the support for the carrying rollers is bolted to the bottom groove near the mid-point, it will be very easy to adjust the position of the carrying rollers, which can be moved in any direction.
When initially mounting the carrying rollers, the bolts should not be tightened too much, but just tight enough to keep the carrying rollers in the running position of the belt. In this way, the position of the carrying rollers can be adjusted with a hammer before final tightening when the belt is in motion.
If the running side cannot be adjusted sufficiently and the bolt is near the midpoint of the groove, the carrying rollers can be adjusted from the other side.
2. Adjustment of the carrying roller
The best place to start adjusting the return face is at the head of the conveyor, starting from the low tension part of the belt, usually after the tensioning device. If the belt runs to one side of the return carrying rollers, the edges of the belt in this area will be worn and these carrying rollers need to be adjusted so that the belt is on the centre line. Usually the carrying rollers to be adjusted are located 1.5 to 6 metres before the point of belt deflection and the belt will move to the side of the first contacting carrying rollers. Very small adjustments to some sets of carrying rollers may be effective enough, and it is preferable to make larger adjustments to only one or two sets of carrying rollers.
However, the effect of a roller adjustment is not immediate and each adjustment needs to be followed by a wait of a few minutes before further adjustments are made. The best time to adjust the carrying rollers is when the belt is running. However, for conveyors with a single travel side, all adjustments cannot be made from the travel side and it is quite dangerous to put your hand on the other side of the conveyor belt while it is running, as your arm can be easily brought in if your clothing touches the belt close to the carrying rollers' point.
Therefore, special attention should be paid to the safe operation of adjusting the carrying rollers when the conveyor belt is in motion.
