Conveyor belt, also called transport belt, is a rubber and fiber, metal composite products, or plastic and fabric composite products used in the belt conveyor belt to carry and transport materials. Conveyor belts are widely used in agriculture, industrial and mining enterprises and transportation industry to transport various solid and powder materials or pieces of goods.
Classification of conveyor belts
There are many ways to classify conveyor belts with rubber coverings, generally speaking, the main classification methods are.
1、According to the performance of the cover layer, the main varieties are: general-purpose conveyor belt, heat-resistant conveyor belt, flame retardant conveyor belt, wear-resistant conveyor belt, anti-tear conveyor belt, oil-resistant conveyor belt, cold-resistant conveyor belt
2、According to the variety of reinforcing skeleton material: steel cord core conveyor belt, fabric core conveyor belt, steel mesh conveyor belt
Among them, fabric core conveyor belt can be divided into: cotton canvas conveyor belt, nylon conveyor belt, polyester conveyor belt, glass fiber conveyor belt, whole core conveyor belt
3、According to the processing method and the shape of the conveyor belt, the conveyor belt can also be divided into: whole core conveyor belt, laminated conveyor belt, ring conveyor belt, wave edge belt, edge baffle belt, pattern conveyor belt, etc.
4、By the different ways of edge rubber processing, it can be divided into edge wrapping belt, edge cutting belt, etc.
Choosing the right type of conveyor belt can prolong the service life of the belt, ensure the continuous stability of production, and reduce production costs and maintenance expenses.
When choosing a conveyor belt (including replacement belts), the following aspects must be considered.
a. Variety and particle size of the material to be transported
b. Whether there is any change in the maximum load capacity (peak volume)
c. Any changes in the working capacity of the equipment, working conditions and working environment. Any changes in the working conditions and working environment.
Selection of skeleton material type, structure and number of layers.
a.Development direction of conveyor belt skeleton material
The laminated conveyor belt core is developed from natural fibres to synthetic fibres, from multiple layers to fewer layers, from low strength and low modulus to high strength and high modulus. Cotton fabric conveyor belts have been basically eliminated abroad and are gradually replaced by nylon and polyester fabric conveyor belts in China. In high-powered conveying, high-strength conveyor belts are needed, and the steel cord core conveyor belt is gradually replacing the fabric core conveyor belt with more layers.
b. Selection of the number of layers of the belt core
The number of layers of belt core has strict requirements on the diameter of conveyor belt wheel. If the diameter of belt wheel is too small, the belt flexing increases when the belt wheel is turned, the fatigue wear of covering rubber increases, the fatigue of skeleton material, core layer rubber and covering rubber also increases, and the service life of the belt is shortened.
Usually the diameter of the belt pulley D has the following requirements.
Cotton canvas belt D≥80s
Nylon belt D ≥ 90s
EP belt D≥108s
Steel cord core belt D≥145s Unit: mm s: thickness of the belt core or diameter of the steel cord
If the diameter of the pulley is small and cannot be changed, a skeleton material with a higher strength class can be used
As a belt core, the number of layers of canvas in the belt core can be reduced so that the belt and the pulley can work together better.
In general, the number of layers of the belt core should not exceed 6 and the number of layers of the EP belt should not exceed 5.
